Summer Bliss
"And at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling." There's nothing better than the magic of summer bliss.
Summer Bliss
As kids, there was always a truly magical feeling about summer. The countdown until the last day of school was filled with excitement and the moment the bell rang on that last day, it was freedom. Freedom to run around outside, cannonball in the pool and have sleepovers with all your friends. When we grow up, we begin to lose this sense of summer freedom. Once we reach high school, our summers are filled with work, volunteering or studying for the SAT. It only gets worse from there. Summer becomes another time filled with responsibilities and checklists. We lose the magic feeling that summer brought us as little kids.Bliss means to be in a perfect state of happiness or great joy. That's the feeling summer brought us when we were younger. We need to make an effort now to have the feeling of summer bliss still. To go on adventures, spend hours outside and surround ourselves with our friends. I've tried to do this. I've felt happier and more free this summer than I have in years. The freedom that summer brought us as a kid is still possible. We can feel the excitement of doing what we want and trying new things. All you have to do is make an effort to feel that same way and it's possible. Go outside, get a little dirty and feel the air rush around you. When the sun sets on a long summer day, I stare out at the ocean and feel calm. Like the world or the universe is behind me, like I can accomplish great things. I feel great joy at the possibilities ahead of me and I know that this is truly the feeling of summer bliss. My feet are dirty, my hair is messy and my eyes are sparkling.
